What do I do when looking for a job in kenya?
Searching for a job is an individual effort, as there is no formally organized job seeking programs. Ways of looking for a good job in Kenya.
  • The media such as Radio and Television, in most cases in kenya,Radion such as Kiss 100 has offered a good Job Opportunities in Kenya. Most newspapers contain job advertisements such as the DAILY NATION, such as the N-SOKO jobs. A job seeker can search through the adverts and sees what fits him/her and apply as per the given instructions. 
  • Company websites  such as Safaricom Kenya,. One can visit websites of the companies that are appropriate to your skills/career/profession. Most companies post their vacancies on their websites, Go to the website of your own Specific Skills, Don’t just visit any other website, for example, if you did Computer related field, you may opt to go to HP website, or Samsung website
  • Websites and blogs such as this one here. One can register or sign up with websites and blogs that show job adverts. 
  • Networking, this is just Connecting with friends,beleave me or not, sometimes getting a job is not that easy in Kenya, why don’t you network with some other people before you even complete your University Course, just try to Connect with Others, it does not only help you to get  a job, but it can also help you to relate with others, Business and so on. Connect with friends, colleagues and family members to find out available opportunities. In Kenya, it is called SOFT CORRUPTION which is allowed. 
  • Recruitment agencies. A job seeker can hand in their CV and wait to be placed in an interview.
  • The Government. The Public Service Commission advertises in the newspapers mostly.

•Coordinate staff performance appraisal and recommend career and personal development plan for staff based on the PMP.
•Administration and implementation of the staff welfare programmes/Schemes e.g Medical Insurance, staff loans etc.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

•University Graduate with a post graduate qualification in Human Resource Management.

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

•8 years work experience, 3 of which should preferably be in a senior position in Human Resources
•Management in the private sector
•Demonstrated leadership skills with good command of oral and written knowledge of English.
•A structured approach to dealing with complex and variable work environments in an independent manner.

Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
  • be a Malawin Citizen;
  • have at least ten (10) years work experience involving Research and/or Policy Analysis
  • have a Masters degree preferably in Research, Economics or Policy Analysis relevant discipline in Social Science from a university recognized in Malawi;
  • demonstrate professional competence in publication and review of journals, articles, manuscripts and other publications.
  • and Report Writing, three (3) of which should have been at leadership/ management level in the Public Service;
  • have a Bachelors degree with a bias in Economics and/or Statistics or Mathematics from a university recognized in Malawi;
  • have thorough knowledge and understanding of techniques of empirical research
  • demonstrate evidence of having carried out independent research work;
  • have capacity to write and edit proposals, reports and opinion briefs;
  • be proficient in the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) research applications such as SPSSs and Project Office; and
  •  
NOTE:
  • Those who have been involved in research in Public Policy and Analysis will have an added advantage.


Duties and responsibilities
An officer at this level will be the head of Research and Policy Analysis Section in the Commission, reporting to the Director, Establishment and Management Consultancy Services for:
  • developing research design and data collection methods and strategies for data management; and
  • undertaking and coordinating research and analysis of various public policy documents;
  • leading and providing technical guide to the research teams in the Commission and the wider public service;
  • providing analytical information to the Commission on impacts of existing and proposed policies and programmes;
  • conducting research on public policy on projects identified by the Commission and monitoring impact of the same on the Public Service;
  • reviewing existing policies and ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations
Key Competencies
  • Ability to analyze, process data and make inferences;
  • Ability to effectively document findings;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others;
  • Ability to adhere to and meet strict deadlines; and
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile high quality narrative and financial reports and submit these to the relevant partners on a monthly basis and as per Donor reporting schedules.
  • Provide technical support to a team of field facilitators,

  • Prepare tools for monitoring and evaluation and use them for monitoring and evaluating the project,
Qualifications
  • The person should have a B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture Education and Extension Agriculture, Animal Production, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics or related to Agri-business from a reputable university. Climate change adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction skills are very essential,
  • Must have excellent report writing, communication and resources mobilization skills
  • Committed Christian demonstrating outstanding leadership and management skills.
  • Experience in managing donor funded projects, working in ASAL areas is an added opportunity.
  • Experiences in Climate Adaptation Initiative will be definite advantage
