Job description
As our Manager for Public Policy and Government Relations in Kenya, you will represent Google externally with government, regulators and third parties, as well as help manage our local public policy strategy and campaigns. You will work with a cross-functional team of Google employees in Africa as well as with a closely-coordinated global Public Policy team to advance policy positions that benefit our users and an open Internet more generally.

Responsibilities
·  Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the full range of policy areas that impact Google and the web.
·  Key issues include technology innovation, free expression, privacy and intellectual property.
·  Engage directly with politicians and policy-makers. Build a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups and others to support policies that will help create/maintain a user-focused online environment as well as an open Internet.


Minimum Qualifications
·  Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
·  Direct experience working within national politics, government, think tanks, public interest groups or the field of corporate public policy.

Preferred Qualifications
·  Broad policy experience with direct knowledge of the tech sector or the key issues impacting the Web, like intellectual property, free expression, Internet access and online safety.
·  Experience working in high-stress environments and a proven ability to exercise judgement even in a crisis.
·  Excellent communicator with great interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as the ability to write well and translate complex issues into simple language that people who are not experts can understand.
·  Self starter with the ability to think, plan, and execute large projects.
·  Team player who can work with people from a broad range of backgrounds and experience, including to lead campaigns and mentor more junior members
·  Fluency in Kiswahili and English are a prerequisite.

Business Advisor on Group Medical Practice

Job Description:
  • The consultant will review and analyze the business opportunities and considerations related to forming group medical practices in Nigeria.
  • Banyan Global is currently recruiting a short-term Business Advisor on Group Medical Practice, to conduct work under a USAID-funded health sector development project in Nigeria. The project focuses on family planning, reproductive health and maternal and child health. Among other objectives, the project seeks to improve the ability of private sector health providers to manage their practices profitability, and to access credit.

  • Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches to international development. The firm has offices in Washington, DC and staff working in a number of developing countries. Banyan Global operates seamlessly within four practice areas: inclusive finance, enterprise development, health sector development, and gender mainstreaming.

Tasks and responsibilities of the position will focus on providing analysis and recommendations regarding the different options and considerations involved in creating a group practice, including:
  • The business-related pros and cons of the different legal entities that are appropriate for a group medical practice (partnership, limited liability corporation, etc.);
  • Business considerations related to dissolving group practices.
  • Assessing the level of interest from doctors and other medical professionals in forming group medical practices, including single specialty and multi-specialty group practices, virtual group practices, and others;
  •  

Deliverables will include:
  • Written report that addresses the issues specified above.
  • A PowerPoint presentation and oral presentation of the main results to partner provider associations.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum 4 years of experience in the private sector, with specific experience working with business partnerships and multi-stakeholder agreements;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business and financing challenges facing businesses in Nigeria, with a particular emphasis on SMEs and/or private health providers;
  • Knowledge and experience with the policy and regulatory environment as relates to the business operations of private health providers in Nigeria;
  • Experience designing and managing assessments focused the market development, the private health sector, or other related topics;
  • Experience producing high quality presentations to a variety of stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills;
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration  or other relevant discipline;
  • Ability to work both independently, and to submit high-quality deliverables on time;
  • Previous experience working on USAID projects is a plus.
