General Manager



Our organization is one of the Water Service Providers contracted by Tana Water Services Board (TWSB) as an agent to provide water and sanitation services in Kyeni and Kagaari Divisions, Runyenjes town and its environs in Embu East District.

To strengthen our corporate management team, we invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates with good credentials to fill the above position.


Ref: KYEWASCO/GM/1/14.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be expected to provide overall direction to the company through planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the company.

The General Manager shall provide strong and inspirational leadership to performance, goals and objectives of the company and in particular improving service delivery to all customers and stakeholders.

Terms of Offer: The job is for a 3 (three) year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance. Remuneration shall be negotiable and market based.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring full compliance with all the legal/statutory requirements.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of the Board policies.
  • Providing visionary leadership and managing Company resources for maximum productivity.
  • performance.
  • Developing and periodically updating the corporate plan including projections of any necessary expansion and development of facilities and extensions of the business operations.
  • Develop and operate company management systems.
  • To ensure that the appropriate cost control measures are implemented and expenditures are within the approved budget.
  • Effectively promote a positive image of the company at all times and act as the liaison between the management and the Board of Directors.
  • To communicate effectively with the employees, other stakeholders and the general public.
  • Ensuring continuous achievement in financial and operating objectives.
  • Acting as secretary to the Board of the company and advice it on the company
  • Coordinating and directing the company’s operational plans and performance targets.
  • Leading in change management within the company and be consistent with the commercial principles and practices of operating a corporate business.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors.



Minimum Qualifications
  • Good report writing, communication skills and team player.
  • Excellent knowledge in Computer operating packages.
  • Proven strong organizational, management, human resource skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Diploma in Water/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, and Business related field, or their equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years traceable experience in a managerial position preferably in a water institution and have knowledge of corporate governance.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results.
  •  
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic management, including planning, goal setting, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Be self driven, goal oriented, issue focused, people centered, result oriented and accountable individual.
  • Satisfy the integrity requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya of 2010.

We are a microfinance institution and we have positions for female interns for our Nairobi office.

  • The interns should be available for at least 2 months and available immediately.
  • The ideal candidate should have either hold a diploma or certificate level.

Position Name: Short-Term Grants Administrator

The Short-Term Grants Administrator will work closely with the Grants Officer and Team Leader for Grants to manage and implement numerous grants under the FHP program.
 The Short-Term Grants Administrator will assist the Grants Officer in tracking, monitoring, and liaising with-grantees to manage grantee activities and ensure budget compliance.
The Short-Term Grants Administrator will supervise the Grants Assistant in administrative tasks

Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree in finance, administration, and/or a related field required.
•At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in administration or grants management.
•Proven experience in project administration, including finance, filing, budgeting, and documentation review and development.
•Experience in assessing organizational capacity and conducting training preferred.
•Experience with a USAID-funded project preferred.
•Excellent communication skills and ability to work on teams.
•Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda required
